Friday, 19 March
1 PM - 5:30 PM: Runner check-in under the sails at the Rotorua Redwoods Visitors centre. Pick up your race packets and leave drop-bags (if necessary). We'll answer questions and attempt to calm your pre-race nerves using beer. Here is a map to the Redwoods
6 PM: Pre-race briefing for all athletes at the Redwoods Meeting Room. Topics covered: Safety, environmental responsibility, course markings, nutrition, drop-bags, pacers, transport, Q&A. A representative from Ngati tarawhai will discuss the importance of this area to his people.
if possible please leave us all your labelled (with Name, Race number and Aid Station Location) drop-bags and/or finish-line bags before the end of the Q and A session.
Saturday, March 20
6:30 AM: All runners to be assembled near the start-line.
The Rotorua Redwoods Visitors Centre. Please park your car in the grassy area on Long Mile Road past the Visitor Centre.
All labelled (with Name, Race number and Aid Station Location) drop-bags to be dropped of before 6:45am.
All fiinsh-line bags to be dropped of before 6:45am.
6:50 AM: Roll-call to check runner attendance.
7:00 AM: Race Start: All runners
7:10 AM: Rotorua Volunteers briefing. Redwood Visitors Centre. All Blue Lake, Okareka and Millar Road Volunteers + marshals.
10:00 AM: Kawerau volunteers check-in at Firmin Field, Kawerau.
10:00 AM-: All pacers must check-in at Pacer Central in Kawerau prior to running in the Tarawera Forest.
11:30 AM: First finisher of 60km event expected at Tarawera Falls.
1:30 PM: First finisher of 80km event expected in Kawerau.
- Check-in at the Kawerau finish line to see if you have won a spot prize
approx. 9:30PM. Bus leaves for Rotorua. Volunteers will shuttle remaining runners back to Rotorua.
10:00-11:00 PM: Final finisher of the 100k Tarawera Ultramarathon expected in Kawerau
