100 Mile Endurance Run

Below please find some information to help with your planning. This is the full extent of information we will be making public at this stage.


DATE. During the Compressport Tarawera Ultramarathon race week in February 2018.

COURSE. Has not been finalised. It will likely include aspects of the Tarawera Ultramarathon course, the Tarawera Trail Marathon & 50km courses and much much more.

ELEVATION GAIN / LOSS. To be confirmed.

START / FINISH LOCATIONS. To be finalised.


UTMB points / WSER qualifier. Yes. Exact details not confirmed.

ENTRIES OPEN. July or August.

ENTRY COST. Not yet set.

ENTRY LIMIT. 1000 runners.

UPGRADE FROM TARAWERA ULTRA. Yes. You can enter the 62, 87 or 102km Tarawera Ultramarathon when entries open on 1 June 2017. You will be guaranteed a 100 mile entry, should you choose to upgrade, plus a discount.

QUALIFICATION. Yet to be finalised. There will be a minimum trail ultramarathon finish requirement. Road and running track ultra distance events (regardless of distance) do not count as a qualifier.

BELT BUCKLE? No. Metal belt buckles have no relevance in the history of the people of Te Arawa and Ngati Awa and these lands and waters. Wood, pounamu and obsidian form true connections to the land and the people.

PACERS? Yes. Pacers should be expected to cover a marathon distance on trails, likely at night.

VOLUNTEERISM. Yes. All entrants will be required to undertake a minimum of eight hours trail running-related volunteer work prior to race day.
