Trail running is not trail running without the support crews and spectators that bring the events to life! We encourage spectating and supporting all around each of our courses, but we do have a few notes for you to ensure you're across for race day. If you're a spectator or support crew, have a read below to make sure you're clued up come race day.

ON COURSE VIEWING
We ask that Spectators looking to watch their runners on course at any time during the race, respect road rules and do so in a safe manner. Spectators may cheer on runners but not assist them in any way. See Support Crew section below for where assistance is able to be provided.
SUPPORT CREW ASSISTANCE
Support crew refers to those assisting runners by providing nutrition and hydration support, and with dressing blisters or massage etc.
Runners may only receive support crew assistance at the designated aid stations, and only for the T50, T102 and TMiler. See the individual race pages for more info on which checkpoints you may receive crew support.
Runners in the T21 may not have support crew support, just spectators.
SUPPORTER RULES
- The runner is responsible for the actions of their support crew. Support crews must comply with all instructions from event staff, road marshals and officials. The runner may be penalised or disqualified for actions or breaches of the rules by their support crew.
- Support crews must obey all road rules and drive within the speed limits. Please ensure that support crew get sufficient rest and are not tired when driving.
- Support crews must not eat the runner food provided at aid stations (runners only).
- Outside assistance is only permitted at the designated aid stations. Runners must not receive outside assistance at any other points on course. Assistance from event staff is fine.
- Support crews and spectators are not permitted to run with runners or as pace runners, other than those designated pacers as per the pacer rules.
- Support crews are not allowed to enter the event course to collect runners.
- The event organisers are not responsible for the safety or whereabouts of support crew.
SPECTATOR LOCATIONS
We encourage spectators to get out on course and support their runners!
Spectators can see runners at many points along the Tarawera Ultra-Trail by UTMB courses. We ask that you please respect private landowners and do not cross any private property. If spectating on course, please respect runners and support crews and do your best to spectate in a supportive, safe manner. Any on course spectating outside of supported checkpoints can only be moral support – no material or physical supporting is allowed.
There are sections of each course that are both accessible and inaccessible to spectators.

Village Green, Rotorua
The finish line and event hub is located at the Village Green in Rotorua. Here you'll find places to eat and drink, recovery, information, and plenty of places to kick back and hang out with your athlete.
Te Puia
The start line for the T50 and T102 is located at Te Puia - home of the famous pohutu geyser.
Firmin Field, Kawerau
Firmin Field is home to the start line of the TMiler. It is located approx. 45 mins drive from central Rotorua.
Lake Tikitapu
Lake Tikitapu plays host to the start line of the T21, as well as the Lake Tikitapu aid station, which sees runners from all 4 distances pass through.
Puarenga Aid Station
The first aid station of the T102 and T50. Support Crews can access this aid station via shuttle.
This aid station can be accessed by shuttle bus only.
Buried Village Aid Station
Buried Village aid station is visited by TMiler runners. Parking is available at the aid station.
Rerewhakaaitu Aid Station
The Rerewhakaaitu aid station for TMiler runners is located at the Rerewhakaaitu camp ground beside Lake Rerewhakaaitu.
There is parking available at this aid station.
Okataina Aid Station
The Okataina aid station for T102 and TMiler runners is located at the Okataina Outdoor Education centre.
Access by shuttle bus only.
Redwoods Aid Station
The Redwoods aid station for all runners is located under the sail within the Redwoods Forest.
There is parking a short walk from the aid station.
RUN HOME FROM REDWOODS
Supporters are welcome to join their athlete on the last stretch of the course from the Redwoods Aid Station.
These supporters run (or walk) for free, but they must register with event staff at the Redwoods Aid Station and receive an event wristband.
Please note: only supporters of the TMiler and T102 may enter the finish chute with their athlete. Supporters of the T50 and T21 are asked to stop before reaching the finish chute.
